Stephen Raitz

Stephen Raitz is a Juris Doctor and Registered Professional Planner who brings a unique blend of legal, planning, and advocacy expertise across both the public and private sectors.

Most recently, Stephen practiced as a lawyer with Brownlee LLP, working across their municipal law department. His work has supported complex planning matters through legal analysis, strategic advice, and engagement with decision-makers.

Stephen also offers extensive governance experience, having served seven years on different City of Edmonton commissions and appeal boards. In these roles, he produced recommendations to council, authored decisions and applied evolving case law within Alberta’s planning framework, contributing to fair and informed outcomes in the development process.

Earlier in his career, Stephen held planning roles across the region with the City of Beaumont, the City of Edmonton, and Municipal Planning Services, building a strong foundation in policy development, land use planning, and municipal processes.

A lifelong resident of the Edmonton region, Stephen is deeply connected to the communities he serves. His involvement with Paths for People and the Edmonton Federation of Community Leagues reflects a commitment to thoughtful development and vibrant public spaces. He is also an active member of Rapid Fire Theatre, where he performs improv and mentors youth — bringing strong communication skills and an ability to connect with diverse audiences.
